Michael Allen Preservation Society:
National Historic Preservation Month, architectural historian Michael Allen presents a talk on the ways in which we remember the lost buildings whose legacies still define our sense of place. Looking at examples from St. Louis to New York City, Allen examines how photography has “saved” many places from being lost from public memory, and also how it has helped make the case for preserving others. The photograph is as strong a cultural image as a building itself — and helps us remember our past.
